Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 19, 2026

At Roadworthy, your privacy is our top priority. This Privacy Policy details how data is handled when you use the Roadworthy Portal, including vehicle checks, fuel price searches, EV charging finders, and account preference sync.

Core Privacy Commitments

  • No Mandatory Account: You can perform UK vehicle searches, inspect MOT histories, find fuel prices, and locate EV chargers without creating an account.
  • No Advertising or Profiling: We do not sell, trade, or share your search histories, location queries, or saved vehicle registrations with advertisers, and no analytics data is used for advertising or cross-site tracking.
  • Local-First Preference Storage: Saved garage vehicles, custom maintenance trackers, and theme settings are preserved in your browser's localStorage.
  • Secure Account Sync (Optional): If you choose to sign in with Supabase Auth, your user preferences (such as home postcode and notification choices) are securely synced using Row Level Security (RLS) policies.

Public Data Integration & API Usage

Roadworthy connects to public UK transport endpoints (including the DVLA, DVSA MOT History and safety recall registers, the Motor Fuel Price Open Data Regulations 2025 scheme, Open Charge Map, and DfT traffic data) via secure HTTPS/TLS encrypted queries. Search queries are processed in-memory to fetch real-time specifications. Recent searches are kept on your own device in browser storage; if you are signed in they are also synced to your private, RLS-protected account so you can pick up where you left off. Registrations you search are never shared with analytics providers, and only the primary vehicle you explicitly set in your profile can appear in your analytics profile.

Product Analytics

To measure feature usage and diagnose errors, Roadworthy routes product analytics through PostHog, hosted in the European Union. A first-party anonymous device identifier is stored in your browser (a cookie or localStorage) and receives aggregated usage events such as "vehicle searched" or "feature request submitted". The registrations you search and full MOT histories are never sent to PostHog. If you are signed in, some profile preferences (such as your email address, home postcode and primary vehicle) are attached to your analytics profile so we can recognise and support you. Analytics are used only to improve the Portal, never for advertising or profile trading, and you can clear the analytics identifier through your browser's site-data controls.

Location Data

When using the Fuel or EV Charger finder features, location access (via browser Geolocation API or postcode search) is used exclusively in real-time to compute great-circle distance bounds to nearby stations. Your exact coordinates are never broadcast or stored permanently on central servers.

Web Push & Maintenance Reminders

If you opt into Web Push notifications, your browser push endpoint is registered securely to send lock-screen MOT inspection and VED road tax due date alerts. You may disable push notifications at any time from your Profile settings or browser permissions.
